If someone makes 5 consecutive failed attempts to unlock the lock, the alarm will sound for several minutes unless turned off.

Can I just unlock the door with the latch?
No, for safety reasons, manually turning the knob will not silence the alarm. It will turn off on its own within 5 minutes.
