Create an Event recording schedule so that your Wyze Cam v4 only records videos during specific times. Don’t want Events recorded while you’re home in the evenings? Set your schedule to only record Events during the day.
Note: Without a paid subscription, your Wyze Cam will only generate a thumbnail image instead of an Event video.

Detects Sound and Motion
You can set your Wyze Cam to record an Event Video when it detects motion and/or sound. A subscription to Cam Plus, Cam Protect, or Cam Plus Lite is required for this feature.
- In the Wyze app, go to the Home tab and tap on your Wyze camera.
- Tap the Settings icon.
- Tap the Event Recording tab
- Tap to toggle on/off Record Motion Events and/or Record Sound Events.
Note: If neither detection setting is enabled, your Wyze Cam will not record Event videos itself, but can still pair with devices like Wyze Sense to record Smart video alerts.
Cool Down Period
When a Sound or Motion triggers an Event video there is a 5 minute cool down period. Sound and Motion are separate triggers. So if a sound triggers an Event video it will have a 5-minute cooldown, but if something then triggers via motion, during that time period it will also trigger an Event video. Then there will be a separate 5-minute cooldown period for another motion-triggered video.
Note: A subscription to Cam Plus will remove the cooldown period and allow your Wyze Cam v4 to record longer than 12-seconds if there is motion detected. Learn more about Cam Plus.
Smart Sound Recognition
Smart Sound Recognition uses an advanced algorithm that recognizes the unique sound patterns of smoke alarms and CO monitors. With Smart Sound Recognition turned on, Wyze Cam v3 will record a 12-second Event video and send a push notification to your phone so that you can act quickly.
Smart Sound Recognition settings are found in Home tab > Wyze Cam v4 > Settings gear > Alarm Settings.
Here you can set the Smoke alarm sound and/or CO alarm sound on/off.
Note: If you have Detects Sound off, you can still use Smart Sound Recognition to receive a notification when the camera detects the specific sound of an alarm.
