What are Automations?
Automations let you automate your Wyze devices. With Automations, you can do things like turn off multiple devices with a single tap in the app, set a specific time of day to record an event video, or even have your lights turn on when a door is opened.
There are 4 types of Automations:
- Shortcuts run actions with a tap in the Wyze app.
- Schedules control devices based on the time of day.
- Device & Service Triggers connect multiple Wyze devices so one can trigger another.
- Location Triggers run actions based on the user's physical location.
To create an Automation:
- In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
- On the Add menu, tap Automation.
- Select the type of automation you'd like to create.
- Shortcut
- Schedule
- Device & Service Trigger
- Location Trigger
- Follow the on screen steps to create the automation.
To edit an Automation:
- Tap Home, then the Automations tab.
- Tap on the automation in the list.
- Tap on the Shortcut, Schedule, Device Trigger, or Location Trigger you would like to edit.
- Make your changes, and tap Save.
What are Shortcuts?
Shortcuts are actions controlled by tapping an icon from the Favorites tab of the Wyze app.
Example: Turn off all Wyze Bulbs with a single tap before going to bed.
To create a Shortcut:
- In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
- On the Add menu, tap Automation > Shortcut.
- Add a name for the shortcut in the text box under the star icon.
- Tap the star icon to change it to a different icon.
- Tap the + plus sign next to Add Action.
- Select the actions you want to trigger when you tap the shortcut.
- You must add at least one action to create a shortcut.
- There is no limit to how many actions you can add to a shortcut.
- To save the action, tap Save.
- To add another action tap the + plus sign next to Add Action again.
- When finished, tap Save.
To use a Shortcut:
- Tap Home in the Wyze app, then locate your shortcut on the Favorites tab.
- Tap the shortcut icon. That's it!
What are Schedules?
Schedules let you set specific times when an action occurs.
Example: Turn on notifications from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, when you're away from home.
To create a Schedule:
- In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
- On the Add menu, tap Automation > Schedule.
- Tap the plus sign + next to Name (Optional).
- Give the schedule a name (ex: Vacuum after bedtime) and tap Save.
- Tap the plus sign + next to Add Action.
- Select an option below Universal or Device Actions:
- Universal action (ex. Turn on Notifications)
- Tap Start Time, select a time, and tap Save to set a start time.
- Tap End Time (Optional), select a time, and tap Save to set an end time.
- Tap the bubbles on each day you do not want the action to occur.
- By default, the action will occur every day of the week.
- If green, the action will occur on that day.
- Tap Save to confirm.
- Device action (ex. Wyze Cam v4, Wyze Switch, etc.)
- Tap the device you want the action to occur on.
- Tap the action(s) you want to occur (Ex: Turn off).
- Tap Save.
- Tap Start Time, select a time, and tap Save to set a start time.
- Tap End Time (Optional), select a time, and tap Save to set an end time.
- Tap the bubbles on each day you do not want the action to occur.
- By default, the action will occur every day of the week.
- If green, the action will occur on that day.
- Tap Save to confirm.
- Universal action (ex. Turn on Notifications)
What are Device Triggers?
Device triggers allow one device to trigger an action in another device. "If this happens, then that will happen."
Example: When the Wyze Sense Motion Sensor on the back porch detects motion, the lights turn on.
Example #2: With Cam Plus, when your Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 detects a person, it plays a Motion Warning "Hi, you are currently being recorded."
To create a Device Trigger:
- In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
- On the Add menu, tap Automation > Device & Service Trigger.
- Tap the plus sign + next to Name (Optional).
- Give the automation a name (ex: Door opens, lights on) and tap Save.
- Tap the plus sign + next to Device & Service Trigger.
- Select the device you want to trigger the action. (Ex: Wyze Entry Sensor)
- Tap the action that must occur. (Ex: Opens)
- Tap Save.
- Tap the plus sign + next to Add Action.
- Select the device you want the action on. (Ex: Wyze Bulb)
- Tap the action that will result. (Turns on)
- Tap Save.
- Optional: Tap the toggle next to Time to restrict when the trigger is active.
- Tap Save to save the automation.
*For Wyze Cam Floodlight v2 and Pro, and Wyze Cam OG, you must subscribe to Cam Plus to select the trigger(s): Detects a pet, vehicle, package, or a person.
What are Location Triggers?
Location Triggers allow a device to trigger based on a certain location.
Example: When you get close to home, your Wyze Air Purifier will turn on.
To create a Location Trigger:
- In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
- On the Add menu, tap Automation > Location Trigger.
- Tap the plus sign + next to Name (Optional).
- Give the automation a name (ex: John arrives) and tap Save.
- Select either I arrive or I leave.

Tap Set Location.
- You can adjust the geofence as low as 500 ft or as high as 1400 ft.
- Tap the plus sign + next to Add Action.
- Select the device you want the action on. (Ex: Wyze Plug)
- Tap the action that will result. (Turns on)
- Tap Save.
- Tap Save to save the automation.
