What is Emergency Heat for Wyze Thermostat?

Emergency Heat helps when it's really cold outside.

What is Emergency Heat?

Normally, your home's heat pump normally pulls air in from outside, then cools or heats it according to your Wyze Thermostat's setting. The Emergency Heat pump is what is used when the air outside is too cold for your home's heat pump work properly, usually around 30º Fahrenheit.

When it's too cold outside, your thermostat's handler will bypass your normal heat pump. The emergency heat pump will then heat your home using alternate means, like natural gas or electric.

⚡️  You will only have the Emergency Heat option if your system has the Emergency Heat wire connected to the * terminal.

To turn on Emergency Heat:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap on your Wyze Thermostat.
  2. Go to Settings > Advanced > Emergency Heat.
  3. Tap the toggle to turn it on.
    • To turn off Emergency Heat, return to this screen and toggle it off.

Additional Notes about Emergency Heat:

  • Emergency Heat cannot turn on at a certain temperature setting. There is no temperature set point for this function for Wyze Thermostat.
  • Emergency Heat must be be turn on or off manually in the Wyze app using the steps above.
  • Emergency Heat has a continuous run time of 30 minutes.
    • Emergency Heat will turn off after those 30 minutes, and has a wait period of 5 minutes before it will turn on again.
