More yard = more water needed.
To put it simply, the bigger your yard is, the more water it needs.*
How do I calculate my yard size?
To calculate the size easily, estimate the area in square feet.
Multiply length x width to get the area.
Pro Tip: Once you have the area, you can calculate the square footage per sprinkler zone by inputting the area that the zone covers (don't worry if areas overlap). In this case, the area = π (pi) × the radius of the spray head coverage squared.
Additional Notes:
- *To put this more technically, the water balance accounting method calculates the evapotranspiration and water deficit in inches. By multiplying the irrigation need (in inches) by the size of your zone, we can get the volume of water needed for your zone.
