Yes! Wyze Lamp Socket v2 adds more cam compatibility.
Wyze Lamp Socket v2 is compatible with Wyze Cam v3, Wyze Cam v4, Wyze Cam v3 Pro, Wyze Cam OG, Wyze Cam Pan v3, Wyze Cam Pan v4 and Wyze Duo Cam Pan (more soon!).
Why does Wyze Lamp Socket v2 work with more Wyze cameras than v1?
Thanks to the increased max power supply of 5V 2A, the newest lamp socket can power more Wyze Cams –even those with a built-in spotlight, or a pan & tilt motor!
But does it work with our older Wyze Cams, or outdoor cams?
No, with good reason (we promise!):
- Wyze Cam Outdoor v1/v2 is not supported because the micro USB cable is not designed to support the camera. Opening the USB port cover for continuous power would compromise the camera’s built-in waterproofing.
- Wyze Battery Cam Pro is not supported due to increased power requirements. The micro USB cable is also not designed to support the camera, and would compromise its built-in waterproofing.
- Wyze Cam v1/v2 and Wyze Cam Pan v1/v2 are not supported because they are not rated for outdoor use.
Additional Note:
Wyze Lamp Socket v1 only produces enough power to receive/send signals through the micro USB port, like the signal to turn the lamp on and off. It does not produce enough power to handle the a spotlight on a camera or the motor for pan & tilt cameras.
