Do I always need to keep the power to the lamp socket on?

Yes, you must keep the switch turned on.

Your switch is what powers Wyze Lamp Socket and its attached Wyze Cam v3. But one of the features of our lamp socket is that even if it's powered, you can turn the socket off to save power.

You can also use the Wyze app to turn the light on/off, set a schedule for it to turn on/off automatically, or have the light triggered by motion.
