Wyze Plug Features

Wyze Plug adds smarts to your devices. Want to tell your bedroom lamp to turn on with your voice, or have your coffee pot turn on automatically in the morning? Wyze Plug can do that. 

This article covers the following Wyze Plug features:

Grouping Wyze Plug

With Grouping, you can control multiple Wyze Plugs at the same time, or organize your Wyze Plugs for Shortcuts. 

To group your Wyze Plug devices:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap Device Group.
  3. Tap Plug Group.
    • Note: Wyze Plugs can only be group with other Wyze Plugs, no Wyze Plug Outdoor devices.
  4. In the top field, Enter a group name, then tap Done on the keyboard.
  5. Select the plugs you want to include in the group. 
  6. Tap Done.

Additional Notes:

  • Grouped devices will not display on the Home screen, but within the group itself.
  • To view the plugs in a group, tap on the group's name on the Home screen.
  • A plug can only be added to one group at a time. 
  • While a plug is in a group, you can adjust the individual plug's settings by tapping on that specific plug in the group. 

Sharing your Wyze Plug

Sharing your Wyze Plug with other Wyze users lets them turn it on/off. Follow these steps to share:

To start sharing follow these steps:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap on your Wyze Plug.
  2. Tap on the Settings gear, then Share Device.
  3. Either select someone from your Recent Shares or enter their email address.
  4. Tap Share.

Once you've sent out a Share invite, the person you shared it with can accept by going to the Account tab, tapping the Notifications icon on the top right, and accepting the share.

To stop sharing any Wyze device:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Account > Sharing.
  2. Tap the shared user in the list.
  3. Tap the Edit (pencil) icon.
  4. Uncheck the box next to each device you want to stop sharing, then tap Update.

Notes about Sharing Wyze Devices:

  • There is no limit to how many Wyze devices can be shared in the Wyze app.   
  • The sharing feature is set per device (you cannot share entire device groups).

Using Automations with Wyze Plug

Automations help control your Wyze Plug, making it easier to turn it on/off with a single tap in the app, have it turn on/off at a scheduled time, or when triggered by another device.

  • Shortcuts run actions with a tap in the Wyze app.
  • Schedules control devices based on the time of day.
  • Device Triggers connect multiple Wyze devices so one can trigger another.

An example Shortcut with the Wyze Plug:

To create a shortcut turn off your Wyze Plug with a single tap from the Home screen:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap Automation > Shortcut.
  3. Tap the Wyze Plug you want to create a shortcut for.
  4. Add a name for the shortcut in the text box under the star icon.
    • Try "Turn off plug"
  5. Tap the + plus sign next to Action.
    1. Tap on your Wyze Plug from the list.
    2. Tap Turns Off, then Save.
  6. When finished, tap Save.

Your shortcut will display with a star icon at the top of the Home screen.

An example Schedule with the Wyze Plug:

To create a schedule to turn on your Wyze Plug every Sunday at 12:00 PM.

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap Automation > Schedule.
  3. Tap the Wyze Plug you want to create a schedule for.
  4. Select Turn On, then Next.
  5. Tap the + plus sign next to Name (Optional).
    1. Enter a name for the schedule. Try "Turn on plug Sundays"
    2. Tap Save.
  6. Tap Start Time.
    1. Select 12:00 PM, then Save.
  7. Under Every, uncheck every day except Sunday in the list.
  8. Tap Save.

An example of Device Trigger with Wyze Plug:

To create a device trigger that turns off your Wyze Bulb when your Wyze Plug has been off for 3 hours.

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap Automation > Devices & Service Trigger.
  3. Tap the + plus sign next to Name (Optional).
    1. Enter a name for the schedule. Try "Turn off bulb and plug"
    2. Tap Save.
  4. Tap Device Trigger.
    1. Select your Wyze Plug.
    2. Tap Has been off for.
    3. Select 3 hours, then tap Save.
  5. Tap the + plus sign next to Action.
    1. Select your Wyze Bulb.
    2. Tap Turn Off, then Save.
  6. When finished, tap Save.

Vacation Mode

Going out of town? Vacation Mode for Wyze Plug makes it look you're home when you're away. If plugged into lamps, this feature will turn them off and on randomly. 

To turn on Vacation Mode:

  1. Open the Wyze app and tap Wyze Plug
  2. Tap Vacation Mode.
    • If prompted to confirm, tap Turn On.
    • Tap Vacation Mode again to turn it off.

Keep in mind

  • Vacation Mode will remain enabled until you turn it off.
  • Vacation Mode turns your plugs on and off at random intervals between 6 AM-9 AM, and 6 PM-11 PM local time.
  • Each Wyze Plug is limited to being turned on for between 5 and 60 minutes.
  • Each plug with Vacation Mode enabled will turn on at least once per hour.
  • Vacation Mode is has to be enabled on each plug individually.
