Event Recording Schedules on Wyze Cam v1/v2 and Pan

Create an Event recording schedule so that your Wyze Cam only records videos during specific times. Don’t want Events recorded while you’re home in the evenings? Set your schedule to only record Events during the day.

Note: Without Cam Plus, Cam Protect, or Cam Plus Lite, your Wyze Cam will only generate a thumbnail image instead of an Event video.

Detects Sound and Motion

You can set your Wyze Cam to record a 12-second Event Video when it detects motion and/or sound. A subscription to Cam Plus, Cam Protect, or Cam Plus Lite is required for this feature.

To toggle your detection settings:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap on your Wyze Cam.
  2. Tap the Settings gear on the top right.
  3. Tap Event Recording.
  4. Tap which Events you want to trigger a recording.
    • Detects motion: An Event will be recorded when your camera detects motion.
    • Detects sound: An Event will be recorded when your camera detects sound.

Note: If you don’t toggle on either option, the camera will not record Event videos.

Cool Down Period

There is a 5-minute cool down or “rest” period after Sound or Motion triggers an Event video. Unless you have Cam Plus, which removes this cool down and gives you full length videos, there will be 5 minutes between every 12-second Event video.

Sound and Motion are separate triggers. If sound triggers an Event video, but during the 5-minute cool down the camera detects motion, another Event video will be recorded.

Smart Sound Recognition

Smart Sound Recognition uses an advanced algorithm that recognizes the unique sound patterns of smoke alarms and CO monitors. With Smart Sound Recognitions turned on, alarms will generate a 12-second Event video and send a push notification to your phone so that you can act quickly.

To turn on Smart Sound Recognition:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap on your Wyze Cam.
  2. Tap the Settings gear on the top right.
  3. Tap Alarm Settings.
  4. Tap the toggle On next to the alarms you want to trigger an Event video.
    • Smoke alarm sound: An Event will be recorded when your camera detects a smoke alarm sound.
    • CO alarm sound: An Event will be recorded when your camera detects a CO alarm sound.

Note: This setting will work even if you have Detect Sound toggled to Off under your Event Recording settings.
