Why are there gaps on my playback timeline while recording continuously?

As the microSD card gets used some sectors on the microSD card tend to go bad. The camera is not capable of detecting and correcting these bad sectors. This causes gaps in the recording. 

Formatting the microSD card to FAT32 can help alleviate these issues and correct the bad sectors.
