How do Automations work with Wyze Cam v3?

Automations help control your Wyze Cam v3 making it easier to turn it on/off with a single tap in the app, have it turn on/off at a scheduled time or when triggered by another device.

  • Shortcuts run actions with a tap in the Wyze app.
  • Schedules control devices based on the time of day.
  • Device & Service Triggers connect multiple Wyze devices so one can trigger another.
  • Location Triggers control devices based on your location.

An example Shortcut with Wyze Cam v3

To create a shortcut to upload a video to the cloud with a single tap from the Home screen.

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap Automation > Shortcut.
  3. Add a name for the shortcut in the text box under the star icon.
    • Try "Upload a video."
  4. Tap Add Action.
    1. Tap on your Wyze Cam v3 from the list.
    2. Tap Upload a short video to the cloud, then Save.
  5. When finished, tap Save.

Your shortcut will display at the top of the Automations tab. To add it to the Favorites tab, tap the star icon on the shortcut.

An example Schedule with Wyze Cam v3

To create a schedule to turn off motion detection every weekday between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM. This comes in handy when you don't want motion-triggered notifications when you're home.

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap AutomationSchedule.
  3. Tap Name (Optional).
    1. Enter a name for the schedule. Try "Turn off motion detection."
    2. Tap Save.
  4. Tap Add Action, then the Wyze Cam v3 you want to create a schedule for.
  5. Select Turn off motion detection, then Save.
  6. Tap Start Time.
    • Select 6:00 PM, then Save.
  7. Tap End Time (Optional).
    • Select 6:00 AM, then Save.
  8. Tap Save.

An example Device Trigger with Wyze Cam v3

To create a device trigger that turns on your Wyze Bulb when your Wyze Cam detects motion.

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap Automation > Device & Service Trigger.
  3. Tap Name (Optional).
    1. Enter a name for the schedule. Try "Turn off the lights."
    2. Tap Save.
  4. Tap Device & Service Trigger.
    1. Select your Wyze Cam v3.
    2. Tap Detects motion, then Save.
  5. Tap Add Action.
    1. Select your Wyze Bulb.
    2. Tap Turn on, then Save.
  6. When done, tap Save.

An example Location Trigger with Wyze Cam v3

To create a location trigger turn off motion detection on Wyze Cam v3 when you arrive home.

  1. In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
  2. On the Add menu, tap Automation > Location Trigger.
  3. Tap Name (Optional).
    1. Enter a name for the trigger. Try "Turn off motion detection when I arrive"
    2. Tap Save.
  4. Tap I arrive.
  5. Confirm the location displayed in the list.
  6. Tap Add Action.
    1. Select your Wyze Cam v3.
    2. Tap Turn off motion detection, then Save.
  7. Optionally, tap to add a Time that this trigger is active.
  8. When done, tap Save.
