The spotlight is not turning on when Wyze Duo Cam Pan detects motion.

Problem

Your Wyze Duo Cam Pan’s spotlight is not turning on when it detects motion. 

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that your Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo. 
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app. 
  1. If possible, check that your Wyze Duo Cam Pan’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for the camera, please move forward with updating it. 
  1. Toggle the spotlight on/off.
    1. In the camera’s live stream, tap the spotlight icon.
    2. Repeat for both spotlights. 
  1. Ensure the camera is set to record correctly.  
    1. In the Wyze app, navigate to the camera’s settings > Event Recording 
    2. Enable Motion, then select All Events.  
    3. Tap Customize Detections.  
    4. Next to Other Motion, ensure that the boxes are checked for both the Tag and Notify columns.  
    5. Attempt to trigger the camera by creating movement in front of the device.   
  1. Verify that the camera’s built-in spotlight is set to turn on when motion is detected. 
    1. In the camera’s settings, tap Spotlight Settings
    2. Select Pan Cam
    3. Under Spotlight Control, tap Auto and then select All Motion Events
    4. Disable any Schedule while testing.
    5. Select Fixed Cam and repeat the process. 
  2. Check that the Detection Settings are set correctly.  
    1. Navigate to the camera’s settings > Detection Settings.  
    2. Select Pan Cam
    3. Under Motion Detection Sensitivity, adjust the slider bar to High.  
    4. Tap Detection Zone and toggle it off while testing.  
    5. Select Fixed Cam and repeat the process. 
  3. Adjust the Night Vision settings.
    1. In the camera’s settings, tap Advanced Settings.
    2. Under Night Vision Mode, cycle between On, Off, and Auto.
    3. Note: We recommend setting it to Auto.
    4. Toggle Night Vision IR Lights off/on.
  4. Verify that there are no Automations set up that could be causing interference. 
    1. Navigate to the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap Automations
    2. Note: We recommend deleting any Automations and then adding them back one by one while testing. 
  5. Power cycle Wyze Duo Cam Pan.
    1. Unplug the camera from its power source for 5-10 seconds, then plug it back in.
  6. Factory reset the camera and then set it up as new. 
    1. Remove any microSD card that is inserted into the camera. 
    2. With the camera powered on, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red. 
    3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up the camera as new. 
  7. Once the camera is setup again, enable the spotlight by going to the camera’s settings > Spotlight Settings.
