My Wyze Lock Bolt v2’s battery is draining quickly.

Problem

Wyze Lock Bolt v2's battery level drains more quickly than expected. 

Troubleshooting

  1. Ensure the correct batteries are being used.
    • Wyze Lock Bolt v2 requires 8x 1.5V AA batteries.
    • Note: We recommend using brand-new batteries, all of the same brand.
  2. Check if the batteries are rechargeable.
    • If so, ensure they are 1.5V. Lower voltage will lead to faster battery drain.
  3. Make sure the batteries are inserted correctly, with the plus signs aligning with plus and the negative sides aligning with negative.
  4. Power cycle Wyze Lock Bolt v2.
    1. Remove all 8 batteries completely for 10 seconds, then place them back into the lock, ensuring they are positioned properly and firmly.
  5. Replace the batteries with brand-new batteries.
    • Note: If using a mix of old and new batteries, the app will incorrectly show 100% battery at the start, but it will drain very quickly.
  6. Confirm that the Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
  7. If possible, check that Wyze Lock Bolt v2’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.  
    2. If there is an update available for the lock, please move forward with updating it.
  8. Ensure Wyze Lock Bolt v2 has good signal strength. 
    1. You can check this in the Wyze app by going to the lock’s settings > Device Info > Signal Strength
    2. If it has 2 bars or less, try moving the router closer to the lock.
  9. Factory reset Wyze Lock Bolt v2.
    1. Remove the cover on the interior assembly by pressing in and up on the top portion of the interior assembly.
    2. Press and hold the reset button for 8 seconds until the status light begins pulsing red.
    3. Once the status light starts pulsing red, set up the lock as new.

Note: Wyze Lock Bolt v2 should provide up to 8 months of battery life with normal use (an average of 10 lock/unlocks per day).
