Problem
The open/close status of your Wyze Garage Door Controller is not showing or is incorrect.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Confirm the Wyze app is up to date.
- Go to the Account tab and tap About.
- The app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- You can compare your app version to the most up-to-date version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
- If possible, confirm the firmware is up to date for both your Wyze Cam v3 and Wyze Garage Door Controller.
- You can check this by going to Account > Firmware update.
- If there is an update available for your camera and/or garage door controller, please move forward with the update.
- If the Wyze Garage Door Controller status is not updating in the device list on the Home tab of the Wyze app but you receive a push notification with the correct status after opening/closing, then try manually refreshing the screen by swiping down on the Home page after receiving the push notification.
- Note: At this time, the status on the Home tab does not automatically refresh.
- If you are not receiving notifications from the Wyze Cam v3 at all, then try the troubleshooting steps below.
- Confirm push notifications in the Wyze app are turned on.
- In the Wyze app, go to Account > Push Notifications.
- Toggle Push Notifications on.
- Confirm notifications are turned on in the user’s device settings.
- Confirm push notifications in the Wyze app are turned on.
- Confirm both your Wyze Garage Door Controller and Wyze Cam v3 are powered on.
- The LED light on the controller should flash once (only once) after powering on.
- Make sure you’re using the power adapter, power cord, and splitter cable that came with Wyze Garage Door Controller Bundle.
- Note: The power adapter included with the bundle is rated 5V 2A. The power adapter with the original Wyze Cam v3 is rated 5V 1A which is not recommended. You can check the power rating on the label of the adapter or cable.
- Make sure the pre-stripped Wyze Garage Door Controller wires are securely connected to the garage door opener.
- Make sure your garage door opener is functioning properly by testing the existing wall button or remote.
- If your garage door opener is not opening or closing, make sure the door safety sensors on each corner of the garage door are not blocked by any obstacles.
- View the camera’s livestream to check that it has a clear, unobstructed view of the QR code placement. The QR code should be within the dotted box on the livestream during the installation/calibration process.
- Make sure there are no highly reflective materials, direct sunlight, or backlighting on or near the QR code sticker, and do not place the sticker on or near windows to avoid interference.
- Toggle Night Vision to Auto to clear any stuck filter.
- Make sure there is nothing on the lens of the camera.
- Remove the plastic film/cover.
- Remove any dirt by wiping the lens with a soft, dry cloth.
- Walk through the calibration process from scratch by going to the Wyze Cam v3 > Settings > Accessories > Wyze Garage Door Controller > QR Code Detection.
- Make sure the QR code sticker is secured firmly and is completely flat against the garage door.
- Make sure the distance between the QR code and Wyze Cam v3 is between 3-15 feet.
- Power cycle the Wyze Cam v3 and Wyze Garage Door Controller by unplugging both the Wyze Garage Door Controller and Wyze Cam v3 from the cable splitter and plugging them back in.
- If the button is still not showing in the app, try repeating this step multiple times.
- Factory reset your Wyze Cam v3 and set up both devices like new.
- If there is a microSD card inserted, remove it.
- With Wyze Cam v3 plugged into power, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds. This will reset the camera.
- Wait at least 30 seconds for the unit to initialize.
- This process can take up to 5 minutes. It's rare, but it's possible.
- The LED status light on the device will change from Solid Red to Flashing Red.
- Wyze Cam v3 and Wyze Garage Door Controller are now ready to be set up again.
