My Wyze Room Sensor is not showing the correct temperature, humidity, or occupancy.

Problem

The temperature, humidity, or occupancy reports are incorrect on your Wyze Room Sensor’s display.

Note: A deviation within +/- 1-2°F is normal when comparing two devices that are placed in the same location, and a +/- 2% difference in humidity is also considered normal. However, if there is an extreme discrepancy in the reports, please try the troubleshooting steps below.

Troubleshooting:

  1. Check that your Wyze app is up to date.
    1. Go to the Account tab and tap About.
    2. The app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. You can compare your app version to the most up-to-date version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
  2. Confirm the firmware for both your Wyze Thermostat and Wyze Room Sensor are up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for your thermostat, please move forward with the update.
  3. Power cycle your Wyze Room Sensor by removing and reinserting the sensor’s batteries.
  4. Try refreshing the sensor list again.
  5. Factory reset your Wyze Room Sensor.
    1. Press and hold the button on the top of the sensor for about 5 seconds until the sensor’s display shows [188] and then release the button to return to the room temperature and humidity display.
    2. Set up your Wyze Room Sensor as new.

Additional Notes

  • Make sure that your sensor is placed in an optimal location for better occupancy detection. We recommend placing the sensor:
    • In a high-traffic room.
    • At spots that you feel are generally warmer or cooler than the rest of your home.
    • About 5 feet off of the ground in a location that is facing the entire room.
  • Avoid locations where the sensor faces vents, fans, windows, doors, direct sunlight, or heat/cold sources that could influence the reading.
    • Occupancy detection uses infrared technology to detect body heat signatures and is based on a person’s continued presence within a Wyze Room Sensor’s viewing angle, not just motion detection.
  • If no motion is detected in front of the Wyze Room Sensor for 30 minutes, Wyze Room Sensor is deactivated (except when in sleep mode) and reactivated during Auto Comfort when motion is detected.
  • The more time you spend in front of a particular sensor, the more weight your thermostat assigns to that sensor’s readings.
