Friendly Faces is our facial recognition feature which is available to Cam Unlimited and Cam Unlimited Pro users. Using Wyze AI, your camera is able to capture, identify, and store human faces.
To enable Friendly Faces:
- Go to the Account tab in the Wyze app, and tap Wyze Intelligence.
- Tap Friendly Faces, carefully read the Terms & Conditions, then tap Agree and Continue.
- If you do not agree, tap Decline.
- If you are not in an eligible location for the use of facial recognition technology, you will receive a pop-up telling you so. You can learn more about that here.
- If none of your devices currently have Friendly Faces enabled, you will see a banner prompting you to enable the feature. Tap Enable.
- Tap the checkbox next to the camera(s) you wish to use with Friendly Faces.
- Tap Save.
To register faces manually:
- In the Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > Wyze Intelligence > Friendly Faces.
- Tap the + plus sign
- Carefully read the Biometric Data Collection Consent, then tap Consent.
- If you do not consent, tap Decline.
- Make sure your face is well-lit and you have a good Wi-Fi connection before continuing. Tap Start.
- Using your phone's camera, place your face in the green ring and slowly adjust your position to fit the ring following the on-screen prompts.
- Name the face. Then tap Save.
- You can also select They are part of my family. to put them in your family category.
- You're all set to add more faces the same way, or by letting Friendly Faces learn faces over time.
As your camera(s) detect more faces over time, you can train Friendly Faces to identify those faces as specific people, or place them in specific categories such as Family, Others, or leave them Unknown. All of this can be managed from the Friendly Faces page in the Wyze app.
Additional Notes:
Due to the legal restrictions related to biometric data, Friendly Faces is strictly prohibited in the state of Illinois, and has limited functionality in the following states:
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- New York City
- Oregon
- Texas
- Washington (state)
- Virginia
- Utah
- California
- The Canadian Provinces of Quebec
