Problem
Wyze Battery Cam Pro is frequently missing Events or there are no Events recorded.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm that your Wyze app is up to date.
- In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
- Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
- If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store, and update the Wyze app.
- If possible, check that your Wyze Battery Cam Pro’s firmware is up to date.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
- If there is an update available for the camera, please move forward with updating it.
- Verify that there is an active Wyze Services subscription applied to the camera.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Services.
- Note: An active subscription is required to receive Event videos. Without a subscription, Events will show as thumbnail images.
-
Ensure the camera is set to record correctly.
-
Navigate to the camera’s settings > Event Recording.
-
Enable Motion then select All Events.
-
Tap Customize Detections.
-
Next to Other Motion, ensure that the boxes are checked for both the Tag and Notify columns.
-
Attempt to trigger the camera by creating movement in front of the device.
-
Note: For Wyze Services users, once recordings for Other Motion are being generated, you can select the desired AI recordings by checking the other options in the Tag and Notify columns.
-
- Verify that the motion is not happening during a cooldown period.
- You can adjust the cooldown by going to the camera’s settings > Event Recording > Recording Cooldown.
- Note: If you have an active Wyze Services subscription enabled for the camera, you can select No Cooldown or set a cooldown within 15s intervals, up to 5 min.
- Adjust the Detection Settings.
- In the camera’s settings, tap Detection Settings.
- While testing, disable any Detection Zone that may be enabled.
- Increase the Detection Range by adjusting the slider bar to 30 ft.
- Increase the Detection Sensitivity by adjusting the slider bar to High.
- Check if there are any filters enabled in the Events tab. If so, you'll want to disable them.
- Navigate to the Events tab.
- Tap on the funnel icon in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Clear All > Show results.
- Check that there are no Automations set up that would interfere with your other settings.
-
On the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap the Automations tab to check.
- We recommend disabling your other automations and adding them back one by one while troubleshooting.
-
- Power cycle Wyze Battery Cam Pro.
- Remove the battery pack completely for 10 seconds, then place it back into the camera, ensuring it is seated firmly.
- Factory reset Wyze Battery Cam Pro.
- Remove any microSD card inserted into the camera.
- With the camera powered on, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light turns solid yellow.
- To access the setup button, you will need to open the camera's battery compartment.
- Once the status light starts flashing yellow and blue, set up the camera like new.
Notes:
- Wyze Battery Cam Pro uses a mixture of PIR (temperature changes) and radar (movement) to detect motion. Motion detection will not trigger if the camera is behind glass/looking out of a window or installed in a third-party case.
- This camera cannot be mounted upside down as it will negatively impact the detection accuracy. This is also why there is no option to rotate the Live stream. For best detection results, we recommend mounting the camera 7 feet high and facing at a 20-degree downward angle.
