Problem
After installing Wyze Video Doorbell v2 and Wyze Doorbell Chime Controller, your chime doesn't ring. You may have 16V 10 VA wiring which is enough to power the doorbell, but not the chime. Below is an alternate wiring method that may help.
Troubleshooting
For 2 Wires with 2 OR 3 Terminals in the Chime Box
If Wyze Doorbell Chime Controller is already installed:
- Turn off power to your doorbell at your circuit breaker.
- Remove the white and red wires from the terminals.
- Connect the red wire to the Front or Rear terminal.
- Leave the white wire disconnected.
- Turn power back on at your circuit breaker.
If Wyze Doorbell Chime Controller is not installed:
- Turn off power to your doorbell at your circuit breaker.
- Remove the wire connected to the Front or Rear terminal.
- Connect that same wire to the black wire from the Chime Controller with the wire cap.
- Connect the red wire from the Chime Controller to the Front or Rear terminal.
- Leave the white wire disconnected.
- Turn power back on at your circuit breaker.
For 3 Wires with 3 Terminals in the Chime Box (2 Doorbells)
If Wyze Doorbell Chime Controller is already installed:
- Turn off power to your doorbell at your circuit breaker.
- Remove the white and red wires from the terminals.
- Connect the red wire from each Chime Controller to the Front and Rear terminals (one on each).
- Leave the white wires disconnected.
- Turn power back on at your circuit breaker.

Additional Notes:
- We highly suggest you attempt the primary wiring method before attempting this alternate method. This alternate wiring may cause a humming sound at your chime box.
- A 16V 10VA transformer is at the low end of the power supply spectrum. Wire age and other wiring conditions can affect how well it powers your Wyze Video Doorbell v2 or rings your mechanical chime.
- If you have 16V with a 10 VA transformer and this alternate wiring still doesn't help, you will need to replace the transformer with a higher VA transformer at your own expense.

Important: If you do not have an existing in-house chime or you are unsure of wiring, stop. Contact your local, licensed electrician for assistance.
