Below are some scenarios of why your Wyze Thermostat may not be turning on.
Scenario 1:
-
Turn the power to your HVAC system off.
-
Ensure that the Rc and C wires are connected securely to Wyze Thermostat and the control board.
-
If there’s an extra wire on the thermostat and no C wire, verify if the extra wire is connected to the C terminal on the control board.
-
If the extra wire is connected to the C terminal on the control board, label the extra wire as the C wire on the thermostat.
-
If there is no C wire and the extra wire is not connected to the thermostat, connect it to the C terminal and label it as C on the thermostat.
-
If there is no C wire or extra wire, you may have a battery-powered thermostat.
-
-
Note: There will be no power without the Rc and C wires connected.
-
-
Turn the power back on for the HVAC system and set up Wyze Thermostat like new.
-
If the thermostat still does not turn on, and you feel comfortable doing so, check the voltage across the Rc and C terminals of the thermostat using a voltmeter. The readings should be taken from the pin holes on the Rc and C terminals.
-
The voltage across Rc and C should be a minimum of 24V. Voltage below this will cause the thermostat to not power on.
-
Scenario 2:
Present As: Your Wyze Thermostat has been functioning normally with daily use, but now is not turning on. No power appears to be going to the thermostat.
Note: If your system was running correctly and suddenly stopped working, it is likely an issue from the control board or HVAC system. We recommend the following steps to check the thermostat before calling your HVAC technician.
Troubleshooting:
- Turn off the power to the HVAC system
- Check your wiring at the thermostat, making sure that each wire is secure.
- Check the wires at the control board, making sure that each wire is secure.
- Turn the power to the HVAC system back on. Then go through testing the system.
- Testing can be found under Settings > Advanced > System Test in the Wyze app.
- If you're still having issues, please reach out to your HVAC technician for more assistance.
