My Wyze Window Cam has poor image quality.

Problem

The camera is displaying a distorted or tinted image in the live stream or in recorded Events.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that the Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed under our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
  2. If possible, check that Wyze Window Cam’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for either device, please move forward with updating them.
  3. Ensure there is nothing impairing the camera’s lens.
    • Remove any plastic film or cover from the lens.
    • Gently wipe the lens with a soft cloth to remove any dust or debris.
    • Check that the window is also clean and transparent.
      • Note: We do not recommend mounting Wyze Window Cam to a window that has a screen on it.
    • If there is a third-party cover on the device, please remove it.
  4. Verify that there are no additional light sources next to or pointing toward the camera lens that may cause interference.
    • If the camera is in the direct path of the sun, it is possible that a lens flare appears in the image. You can adjust the position of the camera, but this is an expected phenomenon in standard cameras.
  5. Check the position of the mounting sticker.
    • We recommend placing the mounting sticker horizontally to minimize the light behind the camera for the best image quality.
    • The mounting sticker is wide by design to reduce glare. Please do not trim the mounting sticker.
  6. Adjust the camera resolution.
    1. From the camera’s live stream, tap the resolution icon to toggle between the modes.
    2. Note: We recommend setting it to HD resolution.
  7. Restart the camera.
    1. Navigate to the camera’s settings > Restart Camera > Restart.
  8. Power cycle Wyze Window Cam.
    1. Unplug the camera from its power source for 5-10 seconds, then plug it back in.
  9. Factory reset the camera and then set it up as new.
    1. Remove any microSD card that is inserted into the camera.
    2. With the camera powered on, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red.
    3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up the camera as new.
