Problem
A legacy device that was previously connected to another router via WPA, WPA2, or WPA3 and supports 2.4 GHz/5 GHz networks fails to connect to your Wyze Mesh Router.
Troubleshooting
-
Check that your Wyze app is up to date.
- Go to the Account tab > tap About.
- The app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- You can compare your app version to the most up-to-date version listed on our Release Notes and Firmware Page.
-
Check that your Wyze Mesh Router’s firmware is up to date.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update. If there is an update available for the router, please move forward with updating it.
-
Check if 802.11r is enabled in the router’s settings.
- Note: This setting is only accessible through the router’s local UI web portal.
- You can access the web portal by entering 192.168.50.1 or wyzerouter.com into your browser.
- After logging into the web portal, select “Advanced Settings” > tap the checkbox next to “Enable 802.11r” > click “Apply”.
- Refresh/reset the legacy device’s network settings and attempt to connect to Wyze Mesh Router again.
Note: Wyze Mesh Router supports the 802.11r standard network roaming. Some IoT devices do not support 802.11r and it is disabled by default in Wyze Mesh Router’s settings.
