My device can’t find the 5 GHz network.

Problem

5 GHz SSID does not appear on the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your device.

Troubleshooting

  1. Check that your Wyze app is up to date.
    1. Go to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. The app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. You can compare your app version to the most up-to-date version listed on our Release Notes and Firmware Page.
  2. Check that your Wyze Mesh Router’s firmware is up to date.
    • You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update. If there is an update available for the router, please move forward with updating it.
  3. Make sure Temporary Disable 5G is not enabled.
    • In the Wyze app, select the router > select the gear icon > Advanced Settings > make sure the Temporary Disable 5G option is toggled off.
  4. Verify if the 5 GHz connection is accessible by other devices to determine if the issue is specific to the individual device.
    • If no devices are able to find the 5 GHz network, proceed to step 10.
    • If only select devices are unable to find the 5 GHz network, proceed to step 5.
  5. Verify that the impacted device is compatible with 5 GHz networks.
    • If you are unsure, please check with the device manufacturer.
  6. Verify that the impacted device supports DFS channels.
    • If you are unsure, please check with the device manufacturer
  7. Verify that the impacted device supports WPA, WPA2, or WPA3.
    • If you are unsure, please check with the device manufacturer.
  8. Move the impacted device closer to the root Wyze Mesh Router (within 10 feet).
  9. If possible, adjust the settings for the impacted device to connect via a 2.4 GHz connection and attempt to connect again.
    • If you are unsure how to do so, please check with the device manufacturer.
  10. Reboot the impacted device.
  11. Power cycle the root Wyze Mesh Router.
    • Unplug the device for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then plug it back in.
  12. Factory reset the root Wyze Mesh Router using the pinhole method.
    • Note: If the root router is reset, all satellite routers will also need to be reset.
    • Insert a paper clip or similar into the reset pinhole for 15 seconds. Wyze Mesh Router's status light will begin rapidly flashing orange to indicate the factory reset has begun and once the reset is complete, it will flash white to indicate that it has been reset and is ready for setup. Set up like new in the Wyze app.

Note: Wyze Mesh Router features Dynamic Frequency Selection (DFS) and the full standard Wi-Fi channel spectrum (channel 36 to 165). We are aware of the potential for there to be some Wi-Fi devices that do not support the full channel spectrum. For example, if the Wyze Mesh Router is broadcasting between channel 52 to 144, Wi-Fi devices that do not support specific channels within that range will not see the 5 GHz network.
