Problem
IPv6 is enabled in the Wyze Mesh Router’s settings, but the device(s) are not being assigned an IPv6 address.
Troubleshooting
-
Check that your Wyze app is up to date.
- Go to the Account tab > tap About.
- The app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- You can compare your app version to the most up-to-date version listed on our Release Notes and Firmware Page.
-
Check that your Wyze Mesh Router’s firmware is up to date.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update. If there is an update available for the router, please move forward with updating it.
-
Verify IPv6 is enabled in the Wyze Mesh Router’s settings.
- In the Wyze app, go to the router’s settings > Advanced Settings > IP Address > LAN IP > check if IPv6 is toggled on.
-
Connect a PC or Mac to the network via Wi-Fi and confirm whether or not it is assigned an IPv6 address.
-
For Mac users:
- In your System Preferences, select Network.
- Select the network you want to use with IPv6.
- Click Advanced > TCP/IP.
- Click the Configure IPv6 pop-up menu, choose Manually, then enter the IPv6 address, router address, and prefix length you received from your network administrator or ISP.
-
For Windows users:
- Click the Windows Start menu, type "ncpa.cpL" in the search field, then press Enter on your keyboard. This will open the Network Connections window.
-
In the Network Connections window, right-click on the connection that you wish to check and select Properties.
- Note: In some cases, it is necessary to provide an administrator password or confirmation. If so, simply type the password or provide confirmation.
- In the Networking tab, under This connection uses the following items, make sure the box next to Internet Protocol Version 6 is checked.
-
For Mac users:
- If only select devices are unable to be assigned an IPv6 address from Wyze Mesh Router, please reach out to the device manufacturer.
- If no devices are being assigned an IPv6 address, proceed to step 7.
-
Power cycle the root Wyze Mesh Router.
- Unplug the device for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then plug it back in.
-
Factory reset the root Wyze Mesh Router using the pinhole method.
- Note: If the root router is reset, all satellite routers will also need to be reset.
- Insert a paper clip or similar into the reset pinhole for 15 seconds. Wyze Mesh Router's status light will begin rapidly flashing orange to indicate the factory reset has begun and once the reset is complete, it will flash white to indicate that it has been reset and is ready for setup. Set up like new in the Wyze app.
