Problem
When attempting to update Wyze Mesh Router’s firmware, it fails.
Troubleshooting
-
Check that your Wyze app is up to date.
- Go to the Account tab > tap About.
- The app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- You can compare your app version to the most up-to-date version listed on our Release Notes and Firmware Page.
- Ensure all Wyze Mesh Routers are powered on and operational prior to starting the firmware update.
-
Confirm that the impacted routers have a -75dBm RSSI or better prior to initiating a firmware update.
-
For the root router:
- In the Wyze app > select the router > select the root Wyze Mesh Router > Root Router.
-
For a satellite router:
- In the Wyze app > select the router > select the satellite Wyze Mesh Router > Satellite Router.
-
For the root router:
- Ensure all cables for the modem and root Wyze Mesh Router are securely connected.
-
Confirm enough time was allowed for the update to be complete.
- Satellite Wyze Mesh Routers will update first and disconnect during the update.
- Updates can take anywhere from 3 to 30 minutes depending on connection strength and speed.
- If the firmware update failed for some Wyze Mesh Routers but not others, wait 30 minutes to ensure the previous update has been completed for the other routers before attempting to update the firmware again.
-
Power cycle all Wyze Mesh Routers that failed the update.
- Leave the device unplugged for 30 seconds to 1 minute, then plug it back in.
-
Factory reset all Wyze Mesh Routers that failed the update using the pinhole method.
-
Note: If the root router is reset, all satellite routers will also need to be reset.
-
Insert a paper clip or similar into the reset pinhole for 15 seconds.
-
For Wyze Mesh Router: The status light will begin rapidly flashing orange to indicate the factory reset has begun and once the reset is complete, it will flash white to indicate that it has been reset and is ready for setup.
-
For Wyze Mesh Router Pro: The status light will begin rapidly flashing orange to indicate the factory reset has begun and once the reset is complete, it will flash green to indicate that it has been reset and is ready for setup.
-
-
Set up like new in the Wyze app.
