My Wyze Cam v4 has poor image quality.

Problem

The live stream is blurry or discolored, there is a purple or pink tint to the picture, there are lines in the image, or you are otherwise experiencing poor image quality.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that your Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store, and update the Wyze app.
  2. Check that your Wyze Cam v4’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for the camera, please move forward with updating it.
  3. Ensure there is nothing impairing the camera’s lens.
    1. Remove any plastic film or cover on the lens.
    2. Gently wipe the lens with a soft cloth to remove any dust or debris.
    3. If there is a third-party cover on the device, please remove it.
    4. If the camera is used behind a window, check that the window is also clean and transparent.
  4. Verify that there are no additional light sources next to or pointing toward the camera lens that may cause interference.
    1. If the camera is in the direct path of the sun, it is possible a lens flare appears in the image. You can adjust the position of the camera angle, but this is an expected phenomenon in standard cameras.
    2. If the camera is not facing the sun directly, make sure the camera’s spotlight isn’t reflecting off the ceiling.
      • We recommend adjusting the height of the camera so the reflection is minimized. We recommend about 1 foot away from the ceiling.
      • Optional: You can use anti-reflective tape on surfaces that would reflect the spotlight back to the camera at your own expense/discretion.
  5. Adjust the camera resolution.
    1. From the camera’s live stream, tap the resolution icon to toggle between the modes.
    2. Note: We recommend setting it to 2K resolution.
  6. Cycle through Night Vision Mode.
    1. Navigate to the camera’s settings > Advanced Settings.
    2. Under Night Vision Mode, cycle through Auto, On, and Off.
    3. Note: We recommend setting it to Auto.
  7. Restart the camera.
    1. Navigate to the camera’s settings > Restart Camera > Restart.
  8. Power cycle Wyze Cam v4 by unplugging it from its power source for 5 seconds and then plugging it back in.
  9. Factory reset Wyze Cam v4 and then set it up as new.
    1. Remove any microSD card inserted in the camera.
    2. With the camera plugged into power, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red.
    3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up the camera as new.
