Problem
Wyze Cam v4 does not record Event videos or thumbnails or does not send you notifications.
Note: An active Wyze Services subscription is required to receive Event videos.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm that your Wyze app is up to date.
- In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
- Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
- If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store, and update the Wyze app.
- Check that your Wyze Cam v4’s firmware is up to date.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
- If there is an update available for the camera, please move forward with updating it.
- Verify that there is an active Wyze Services subscription applied to the camera.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Services.
- Note: An active subscription is required to receive Event videos. Without a subscription, Events will show as thumbnail images.
- Ensure the camera is set to record correctly.
- In the camera’s settings, tap Event Recording.
- Enable Motion then select All Events.
- If wanting sound-triggered events, enable Sound.
- Tap Customize Detections.
- Next to Other Motion, ensure that the boxes are checked for both the Tag and Notify columns.
- If wanting sound-triggered events, repeat this step for Other Sounds.
- Attempt to trigger the camera by creating motion in front of the device.
- If testing sound, make noise near the device.
- Note: For Wyze Services users, once recordings for Other Motion or Other Sounds are generated, you can select the desired AI recordings by checking other options in the Tag and Notify columns.
- Verify that the Detection Settings are set correctly.
- Navigate to the camera’s settings > Detection Settings.
- Under Motion Detection Sensitivity, adjust the slider bar to High.
- For sound events, repeat this step for Sound Detection Sensitivity.
- Tap Detection Zone and toggle it off while testing.
- Check that Notifications are set correctly.
- For the camera:
- Navigate to the camera’s settings > Notifications.
- Enable Notifications.
- Note: Tap Manage to be taken back to the screen to customize the Notify column for your recordings.
- For the Wyze app:
- Navigate to the Home tab of the Wyze app.
- Tap Account > Notifications > Push Notifications.
- Toggle on Push Notifications.
- For the camera:
- Verify that there are no Automations set up that could be causing interference.

Navigate to the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap Automations.

Note: We recommend deleting any Automations and then adding them back one by one while testing.

- Power cycle Wyze Cam v4 by unplugging it from its power source for 5 seconds and then plugging it back in.
- Factory reset Wyze Cam v4 and then set it up as new.
- Remove any microSD card inserted in the camera.
- With the camera plugged into power, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red.
- Once the status light starts flashing red, set up the camera as new.
