My Wyze Cam v4 is not detecting when my garage door is open/closed.

Problem

The new AI Garage Door detection option does not properly detect when your garage door is open/closed.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that your Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
  2. If possible, check that your camera’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for the camera, please move forward with updating it.
  3. Verify that the camera is located in a place that has a clear, unobstructed view of the garage door(s).
    • Note: If you have moved the camera since training the AI, you will need to retrain it.
  4. Ensure the camera is set to record correctly.
    1. In the Wyze app, navigate to the camera’s settings > Event Recording
    2. Enable Motion, then select Smart Detections > Customize Detections
    3. While testing, disable any other motion detection options.
      • Note: Selecting other smart detection options may impact the accuracy of the garage door detection.
  5. Verify that the Detection Settings are set correctly.
    1. Navigate to the camera’s settings > Detection Settings
    2. Under Motion Detection Sensitivity, adjust the slider bar to High.
    3. Tap Detection Zone and toggle it off while testing.
  6. Verify that there are no Automations set up that could be causing interference.
    1. Navigate to the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap Automations.
    2. Note: We recommend deleting any Automations and then adding them back one by one while testing.
  7. Provide feedback to Wyze AI.
    1. Navigate to the camera’s Event Recording settings and select Garage Door.
    2. At the bottom of the screen, tap Verify next to “Tag your garage door as open or closed to help Wyze AI learn.”
    3. Select the related image and provide details about the image using the in-app prompts, then tap Confirm.
    4. Tap Submit.
  8. Retrain Wyze AI by removing existing images and adding new ones for Open and Closed status.
  9. Power cycle the camera.
    1. Remove the camera from its power source for 5-10 seconds and then plug it back in.
  10. Factory reset the camera and then set it up as new.
    1. Remove any microSD card inserted into the camera.
    2. With the camera plugged into power, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red.
    3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up the camera as new.
