Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that your Wyze app is up to date.

    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store, and update the Wyze app.
  2. Check that your Wyze Cam v4’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.

    1. In the Wyze app, tap on your camera.
    2. After the live stream loads, tap the spotlight icon.
  4. Ensure the camera is set to detect motion.
    1. In the camera’s settings, tap Event Recording.
    2. Enable Motion then select All Events.
    3. Tap Customize Detections.
    4. Next to Other Motion, ensure that the boxes are checked for both the Tag and Notify columns.
    5. Attempt to trigger the camera by creating movement in front of the device.
  5. Verify that the camera’s built-in spotlight is set to turn on when motion is detected.
    1. In the camera’s settings, tap Spotlight Settings.
    2. Enable Motion then select All Motion.

    2. Under Motion Detection Sensitivity, adjust the slider bar to High.
    3. Tap Detection Zone and toggle it off while testing.
  7. Check that there are no Automations set up that would interfere with your other settings.
    1. On the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap the Automations tab to check.

    2. We recommend disabling your other automations and adding them back one by one while troubleshooting.
  8. Power cycle Wyze Cam v4 by unplugging it from its power source for 5 seconds and then plugging it back in.
  9. Factory reset Wyze Cam v4 and then set it up as new.
    1. Remove any microSD card inserted in the camera.
    2. With the camera plugged into power, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red.
    3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up the camera as new.
  10. Once the camera is set back up, enable the spotlight by going to the camera’s settings > Spotlight Settings.
