The Wyze app uses geofencing to unlock your Wyze Lock automatically when you’re home. Through a combination of Location Services and Bluetooth, Auto-Unlock uses a 2-step process to make sure you’re close enough for it to unlock reliably.

Step 1: Location Services recognizes when you’re near your home after being away. This triggers the lock to look for your phone via Bluetooth.

Step 2: When your phone is within Bluetooth range of the Wyze Lock, the Lock will connect to your phone via Bluetooth and automatically unlock.

What is the geofencing range?

The geofencing range is roughly the size of one city block. If Auto-Unlock is triggered but the door is never opened, the door will re-lock itself after 10 minutes.

To ensure that the feature works properly, you must exit this range then re-enter before Auto-Unlock can trigger again. The geofencing range cannot be adjusted at this time.

What if you don't enter Bluetooth range of your door?

Bluetooth will attempt to time out after 10 minutes if a connection isn’t made. If you take longer than 10 minutes to get within range, Auto-Unlock will cancel and your Wyze Lock will not unlock automatically.

Note: In order for the Auto-Unlock to succeed when you enter Bluetooth range, please make sure the Lock's product page isn't open. Having the Lock's page open within the Wyze app will cancel Auto-Unlock.

Auto-Unlock Set Up

  1. Tap your Wyze Lock from the Home screen.
  2. Tap the gear-shaped icon to open Lock Settings.
  3. Tap Auto-Unlock.
  4. Tap on the Auto-Unlock toggle. You'll be prompted to select a Home location.

Tips to ensure Auto-Unlock works reliably:

  • Enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
  • Enable Location Services. Keep them connected, and ensure permissions are granted to the Wyze app.
  • Disable the battery-saver settings on your device, so the Wyze app isn't closed to save battery life.
    • Or, whitelist the Wyze app so it isn't affected.
  • Use this feature only on the primary door you use to enter and exit your home.
  • Don't force close the app in your Settings, if you're on Android.
  • Auto-Unlock will only work with smartphones at this time. Tablets with the Wyze app installed are unable to trigger Auto-Unlock.
