Problem
Your Wyze Plug Outdoor shows offline in the Wyze app, has trouble connecting, or disconnects frequently.
Troubleshooting
-
Confirm your Wyze app is up to date.
-
In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
-
Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
-
Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
-
If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
-
-
Check the Bluetooth® connection.
-
In the phone’s settings, toggle Bluetooth® off and then back on.
-
Ensure the plug and phone are within Bluetooth® range of each other.
-
This distance varies by device but is generally about 30 feet.
-
-
If there are other devices connected to the phone via Bluetooth® or other apps currently using Bluetooth® that may be causing interference, unpair the devices or close the apps.
-
-
Verify that Location Permissions are enabled for the Wyze app in the phone/tablet settings.
-
Make sure that it is set to Always or While Using the App.
-
For iOS users, make sure that Precise Location is turned on.
-
-
If possible, check that your Wyze Plug Outdoor's firmware is up to date.
-
You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
-
If there is an update available for the plug, please move forward with updating it.
-
-
Confirm that your plug is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and that the network is functioning normally.
-
Ensure that the outlet where the plug is inserted is receiving power.
-
If the outlet is powered by a switch, ensure the switch is turned on.
-
Note: We recommend inserting the plug directly into an outlet.
-
-
Try moving the plug closer to the router.
-
Force close the Wyze app.
-
Reboot your Wi-Fi router.
-
Power cycle your Wyze Plug Outdoor.
-
Unplug it from the outlet for 5 seconds, and then plug it back in.
-
-
Factory reset your Wyze Plug Outdoor.
-
Press and hold one of the power buttons on the top of the plug until the status light begins to flash blue.
-
Once the status light begins to flash blue, set up the plug like new in the Wyze app.
