How do Rules work with Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro?
Rules help automate your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro, making it easier to record and illuminate your surroundings whenever you want.
There are 4 kinds of Rules that can be used with Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.
- Shortcuts run actions with a tap in the Wyze app.
- Schedules control devices based on the time of day.
- Device & Service Triggers connect multiple Wyze devices so one can trigger another. Having a Wyze Services subscription offers additional AI-based triggers.
- Location Triggers control devices based on your location.
Below are some examples of scenarios where Rules may be useful in your everyday life.
Shortcut
Rule Name: “What was that?”
Scenario: You hear a noise in the backyard and want to get a better view of what made the noise. So you need to quickly turn on the lights on your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro, turn on your back porch lights, and have your floodlight record a short video to the cloud.
To create your Shortcut:
- In the Wyze app, tap on the + plus sign in the top left corner, then tap Add Rule.
- Tap Shortcut.
- Name your Rule “What was that?”
- Tap Add Action and select your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.
- Check the boxes next to Turn on floodlight and Upload a short video to the cloud. Tap Save.
- Tap Add Action again and select your back porch Wyze Bulbs.
- Check the boxes next to Turn on and Set brightness to. Then adjust the brightness bar to 100%. Tap Save.
- Tap Save again, and then you’re all set!
Note: If you do not have a Cam Plus subscription, the recording will show as a thumbnail image rather than a video. You can learn more about Cam Plus here.
Schedule
Rule Name: “At Work”
Scenario: When you go to work at your 9-5, you want to have your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro’s camera on you want to be notified of any motion detected by your floodlight or Wyze Video Doorbell.
To create your Schedule:
- In the Wyze app, tap on the + plus sign in the top left corner, then tap Add Rule.
- Tap Schedule.
- Name your Rule “At Work”, then tap Save.
- Select a Start Time of 9 am and an End Time of 5 pm.
- If you don’t set an end time, your floodlight will stay on all day!
- Select the days you normally work like Monday-Friday.
- These will be the only days that your Rule is active.
- Tap Add Action, then choose your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.
- Check the boxes next to Turn on the camera, Turn on notifications, and Turn on motion detection. Tap Save.
- Tap Add Action, then choose your Wyze Video Doorbell.
- Check the boxes next to Turn on the camera, Turn on motion detection, and Turn on notifications, then tap Save.
- Tap Save again, and then you’re all set!
Device & Service Trigger
Rule Name: “Go Away”
Scenario: When a Person is detected by Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro, you want to deter unwanted visitors by turning on your floodlight’s siren.
To create your Device & Service Trigger:
- In the Wyze app, tap on the + plus sign in the top left corner, then tap Add Rule.
- Tap Device & Service Trigger.
- Name your Rule “Go Away”, then tap Save.
- Tap Device & Service Trigger, then choose your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.
- Tap on Detects a person, then tap Save.
- If you don’t have Cam Plus, you can still use this Rule for when the floodlight detects motion, you’ll just want to tap Detects motion. However, we recommend using Cam Plus for additional smart detections like vehicle, package, and pet detection. You can learn more about Cam Plus here.
- To sign up for Cam Plus, simply tap one of the Cam Plus options (Detects a person, Detects vehicle, Detects package, Detects a pet) and then tap Start My Free Trial to get started.
- If you don’t have Cam Plus, you can still use this Rule for when the floodlight detects motion, you’ll just want to tap Detects motion. However, we recommend using Cam Plus for additional smart detections like vehicle, package, and pet detection. You can learn more about Cam Plus here.
- Tap Add Action, then choose your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.
- Check the box next to Turn on the siren, then tap Save.
- If you'd like to have this Rule only trigger during a certain time or on specific days, toggle Time on then select your start and end times and the days of the week you'd like this Rule to be active.
- Tap Save.
- You may see a message prompt saying "The trigger and action are for the same device. Are you sure you want to proceed". You'll want to tap Proceed.
- You’re all set!
Location Trigger
Rule Name: “I’m Away”
Scenario: You want your Wyze Robot Vacuum to begin cleaning and Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro’s camera to turn on and detect motion automatically whenever you leave your home.
To create your Location Trigger:
- In the Wyze app, tap on the + plus sign in the top left corner, then tap Add Rule.
- Tap Location Trigger.
- Name your Rule “I’m Away”, then tap Save.
- Under IF, Select I leave.
- Under The Location, tap your home address, then adjust the location radius.
- You can move the map with your finger, use two fingers and move them together/apart to zoom out/in, or use the arrows at the edge of the shaded circle to make the location radius smaller or larger.
- If your Location Permissions aren’t already enabled, you’ll receive an in-app prompt to enable this. You can enable Location Permissions by going to your phone’s settings.
- Tap Save.
- Tap Add Action.
- Select your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.
- Check the boxes next to Turn on the camera, Turn on notifications, and Turn on motion detection, then tap Save.
- Tap Add Action.
- Select your Wyze Robot Vacuum.
- Check the box next to Start to clean, then tap Save.
- If you'd like to have this Rule only trigger during a certain time or on specific days, toggle Time on then select your start and end times and the days of the week you'd like this Rule to be active.
- Tap Save, and then you’re all set!
