Using Rules with your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro

To learn all about Rules, Shortcuts, Schedules, and Device Triggers, start with the article: Using Rules with the Wyze app.

How do Rules work with Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro?

Rules help automate your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro, making it easier to record and illuminate your surroundings whenever you want.

There are 4 kinds of Rules that can be used with Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.

  • Shortcuts run actions with a tap in the Wyze app.
  • Schedules control devices based on the time of day.
  • Device & Service Triggers connect multiple Wyze devices so one can trigger another. Having a Wyze Services subscription offers additional AI-based triggers.
  • Location Triggers control devices based on your location.

Below are some examples of scenarios where Rules may be useful in your everyday life.

Shortcut

Rule Name: “What was that?”

Scenario: You hear a noise in the backyard and want to get a better view of what made the noise. So you need to quickly turn on the lights on your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro, turn on your back porch lights, and have your floodlight record a short video to the cloud.

To create your Shortcut:

  1. In the Wyze app, tap on the + plus sign in the top left corner, then tap Add Rule.
  2. Tap Shortcut.
  3. Name your Rule “What was that?”
  4. Tap Add Action and select your Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro.
  5. Check the boxes next to Turn on floodlight and Upload a short video to the cloud. Tap Save.
  6. Tap Add Action again and select your back porch Wyze Bulbs.
  7. Check the boxes next to Turn on and Set brightness to. Then adjust the brightness bar to 100%. Tap Save.
  8. Tap Save again, and then you’re all set!

Note: If you do not have a Cam Plus subscription, the recording will show as a thumbnail image rather than a video. You can learn more about Cam Plus here.
