My Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell is missing or not recording Events.

Problem

Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell is frequently missing Events or there are no Events recorded.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that your Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store, and update the Wyze app.
  2. If possible, check that your Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for the doorbell, please move forward with updating it.
  3. Ensure the doorbell is set to record correctly.
    1. In the Wyze app, navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Event Recording.
    2. Enable Motion then select All Events.
    3. Tap Customize Detections.
    4. Next to Other Motion, ensure that the boxes are checked for both the Tag and Notify columns.
    5. Attempt to trigger the doorbell by creating movement in front of the device.
    6. Notes:
      • For users who do not have a Wyze Services subscription enabled, there will automatically be a 5-minute cooldown period between thumbnails.
      • For Wyze Services users, once recordings for Other Motion are being generated, you can select the desired AI recordings by checking the other options in the Tag and Notify columns.
  4. Verify that the Detection Settings are set correctly.
    1. Navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Detection Settings.
    2. Under Motion Detection Sensitivity, adjust the slider bar to High
    3. Tap Detection Zone and toggle it off while testing.
  5. Verify that there are no Automations set up that could be causing interference.
    1. Navigate to the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap Automations.
    2. Note: We recommend deleting any Automations and then adding them back one by one while testing.
  6. Power cycle Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell.
    • If battery-powered: Remove the battery pack completely for 10 seconds, then place it back into the doorbell, ensuring it is seated firmly.
    • If hardwired: Flip the breaker that is powering the doorbell to the off position, wait 10 full seconds, then flip the breaker back to the on position.
  7. Factory reset Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell.
    1. Remove any microSD card inserted into the doorbell.
    2. Press and hold the RESET button on the back of the doorbell for 5 seconds or until the voice prompt sounds.
      • To access the RESET button, you will need to use the doorbell detaching pin to remove the back plate from the doorbell.
    3. Once the status light is flashing red, set up the doorbell like new.
