Wyze Bulb can be used from any socket that provides the needed power. This includes multi-way switches that control more than 1 fixture/socket at a time.
There are a few ways to set up bulbs to work with this type of switch, but the easiest is probably to not turn the switch off/on 3 times to trigger the reset. By default, brand new Wyze Bulb devices should broadcast their Wi-Fi network when screwed into a socket and turned on. This means that you can effectively skip Step 6 of the regular setup guide on the sole condition that the bulb being used is either brand new.
Follow these steps to set up a brand new Wyze Bulb:
- In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
- On the Add menu, tap Device.
- Tap Power & Lighting > Wyze Bulb.
- If you haven’t already, install your Wyze Bulb in the socket that will be powering it.
- Back in the Wyze app, enter the Wi-Fi information for the network the bulb will connect to.
- The Wyze app will prompt you to connect your phone to the bulb’s Wi-Fi.
- Tap Next and select the Wyze Bulb’s WiFi, and Connect.
- On an Android device, accept the popup that says the Bulb's network has no internet. Dismissing or denying it will stop the setup process.
- You will be taken back to the Wyze app, where you’ll see a timer for the connection.
- Once the bulb finishes connecting, it will stop pulsing and will prompt you to name the device to finish the setup.
- Once complete it will bring you back to the Home tab.
Alternate Multi-Way Switch Setup Process:
Alternatively, you can use the full regular setup process for bulbs that have been set up previously. The best way to do this is to use screwing the bulb in as the 'turn on' and unscrewing the bulb as the 'turn off' trigger. This means that you'll screw in/unscrew each bulb 3 times to trigger their setup process.
Follow these steps to set up your Wyze Bulb on a multi-way switch:
- In the Wyze app, tap Home, then tap the plus sign + on the top right.
- On the Add menu, tap Device.
- Tap Power & Lighting > Wyze Bulb.
- If you haven’t already, install your Wyze Bulb in the socket that will be powering it.
- Screw in/Unscrew the bulb 3 times, at which point the Wyze Bulb should begin to pulse.
