Wyze Accessory Bulb Setup Troubleshooting

Problem

Your Wyze Accessory Bulb cannot be set up.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that the Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store, and update the Wyze app.
  2. If possible, check that Wyze Bulb Cam’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for the camera, please move forward with updating it.
  3. Check if the bulb is in a socket with a dimmer switch.
    • If it is in a socket with a dimmer switch, we recommend moving the bulb to a different socket, as dimmer switches are not recommended.
      • Note: If using dimmer switches, the brightness will need to be adjusted from within the Wyze app only. Using the physical dimmer switch will cause functionality problems.
    • If it is in a dimmer switch and it cannot move it to a different socket, ensure that the dimmer switch turned up to its highest setting.
  4. Verify that the bulb is installed securely in the socket.
    • Note: It should not be too tight or too loose.
  5. Ensure that the fixture where Wyze Accessory Bulb is installed is physically powered on.
    1. Turn it off, then back on.
  6. Check that BluetoothⓇ is enabled for the Wyze app in your phone/tablet settings.
    1. Toggle BluetoothⓇ off/on.
  7. Verify that Location Permissions are enabled for the Wyze app in your phone/tablet settings.
    1. Make sure that it is set to Always or While Using the App.
    2. For iOS users, make sure that Precise Location is turned on.
  8. Ensure Wyze Bulb Cam is set up and functioning properly.
  9. Try moving Wyze Accessory Bulb closer to Wyze Bulb Cam.
    • Note: Wyze Accessory Bulbs are paired with Wyze Bulb Cam via Bluetooth® and should be installed close (within 50 feet) to Wyze Bulb Cam to maintain a strong connection.
  10. Power cycle Wyze Accessory Bulb.
    1. Manually turn off the socket via the light switch for 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
  11. Factory reset Wyze Bulb Cam.
    1. Remove any microSD card inserted into the camera.
    2. With the camera powered on, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red.
    3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up Wyze Bulb Cam like new.
    4. Note: If you factory reset Wyze Bulb Cam, any linked Wyze Accessory Bulbs will lose connection and automatically reset within 5-6 minutes, then will need to be set up like new.

Note: There is a limit of 5 Wyze Accessory Bulbs for each Wyze Bulb Cam.
