Problem
Wyze Battery Video Doorbell is not recording any motion-triggered events, is missing events, or is not sending you any notifications.
Note: An active subscription to a Wyze Service is required to receive cloud Event videos.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm that the Wyze app is up to date.
- In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
- Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
- If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
- If possible, check that your Wyze Battery Video Doorbell’s firmware is up to date.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
- If there is an update available for the doorbell, please move forward with updating it.
- Verify that Location Permissions are enabled for the Wyze app in the phone/tablet settings.
- Make sure that it is set to Always or While Using the App.
- For iOS users, make sure that Precise Location is turned on.
- Ensure the doorbell is set to record correctly.
- In the Wyze app, navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Event Recording.
- Enable Motion, then select All Events.
- Under Recording Preferences, tap Customize Recordings.
- Next to Other Motion, ensure that the boxes are checked for both the Tag and Notify columns.
- Attempt to trigger the doorbell by creating movement in front of the device.
- Notes:
- Without a Wyze Service, there will automatically be a 5-minute cooldown period between detections, and the recordings will be thumbnail images instead of videos.
- For Wyze Services users, once recordings for Other Motion are being generated, you can select the desired AI recordings by checking the other options in the Tag and Notify columns.
- Verify that the Detection Settings are set correctly.
- Navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Detection Settings.
- Tap Detection Zone and toggle it off while testing.
- Under Motion Detection Sensitivity, adjust the slider bar to High.
- Check that Notifications are set correctly.
- For the camera:
- Navigate to the camera’s settings > Notifications.
- Enable Notifications.
- Note: Tap Manage to be taken back to the screen to customize the Notify column for your recordings.
- For the Wyze app:
- Navigate to the Home tab of the Wyze app.
- Tap Account > Notifications > Push Notifications.
- Toggle on Push Notifications.
- For the mobile device:
- Navigate to the device’s settings.
- Enable notifications for the Wyze app.
- For the camera:
- Verify that there are no Automations set up that could be causing interference.
- Navigate to the Home tab of the Wyze app, tap Automations.
- Note: We recommend deleting any Automations and then adding them back one by one while testing.
- Restart the doorbell.
- Navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Restart Device > Restart.
- Factory reset Wyze Battery Video Doorbell.
- Use the included Doorbell Detaching Pin to remove the doorbell from the back panel, if the doorbell is mounted.
- Remove any microSD card that is inserted into the doorbell. The next step will reset your device.
- You must remove any inserted microSD card before factory resetting your doorbell.
- Single-press the SETUP button on the back of the doorbell.
- Pressing the SETUP button will fully reset the doorbell. "Ready to connect" will sound.
