Problem
The battery on your Wyze Battery Video Doorbell is draining more quickly than expected.
Troubleshooting
- Confirm that the Wyze app is up to date.
- In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
- Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
- Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
- If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
- If possible, check that your Wyze Battery Video Doorbell’s firmware is up to date.
- You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
- If there is an update available for the doorbell, please move forward with updating it.
- Verify that the doorbell is being charged using the USB-C to USB-A power cable that it came with.
- Wyze Battery Video Doorbell requires a 5V2A power adapter (not included).
- Ensure the power cable is inserted correctly and securely into the doorbell and adapter.
- Make sure the battery is fully charged.
- It takes about 6 hours to fully charge the battery from 0-100%.
- If the battery is charging, the charging indicator light will be solid red.
- If the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator light will be solid blue.
- If the battery is not charging, refer to My Wyze Battery Video Doorbell won't charge.
- Ensure Wyze Battery Video Doorbell has good signal strength.
- You can check this in the Wyze app by going to the doorbell’s settings > Device Info > Signal Strength.
- If it has 2 bars or less, try moving the doorbell closer to the router.
- Lower the live stream’s resolution.
- Higher resolutions require more bandwidth and are more likely to cause slower connectivity or drain the battery more quickly.
- Check that the doorbell is set to record correctly.
- Navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Event Recording.
- Enable Motion.
- For users without a Wyze Service, select All Events.
- Note: Without a Wyze Service, there will automatically be a 5-minute cooldown period between detections, and the recordings will be thumbnail images instead of videos.
- For users with a Wyze Service, select Smart Detection Events.
- For users without a Wyze Service, select All Events.
- Under Recording Preferences, tap Customize Recordings.
- For users without a Wyze Service, locate Other Motion, and ensure that the boxes are checked for both the Tag and Notify columns.
- For users with a Wyze Service, only select the specific types of AI motion that you would like to trigger the doorbell to eliminate unnecessary videos.
- Adjust the Detection Settings.
- Navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Detection Settings.
- Create a Detection Zone to exclude any areas that may be creating unnecessary detections, such as waving trees or bushes.
- Under Motion Detection Sensitivity, adjust the slider to Low so that the camera will only detect larger movements.
- Enable Power Saving Mode.
- In the doorbell’s settings, select Advanced Settings.
- Enable Power Saving Mode.
- Note: By default, Power Saving Mode is enabled to help conserve battery life. When enabled, Wyze Battery Video Doorbell does not automatically load the live stream. Tap the Play button in the live stream to begin viewing it.
- Restart the doorbell.
- Navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Restart Device > Restart.
- Factory reset Wyze Battery Video Doorbell.
- Use the included Doorbell Detaching Pin to remove the doorbell from the back panel, if the doorbell is mounted.
- Remove any microSD card that is inserted into the doorbell. The next step will reset your device.
- You must remove any inserted microSD card before factory resetting your doorbell.
- Single-press the SETUP button on the back of the doorbell.
- Pressing the SETUP button will fully reset the doorbell. "Ready to connect" will sound.

Additional Notes:
There are multiple factors that can impact how quickly the battery drains, including:
- Keeping the live stream open for extended periods of time.
- This also includes viewing the Events list underneath the camera’s live stream while live stream is active.
- Recording a high number of Events.
- Recording very long Events.
- Local recording to a microSD card.
