My Wyze Battery Video Doorbell’s firmware fails to update.

Problem

When you try to update the firmware for your Wyze Battery Video Doorbell, it fails.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that the Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
  2. If battery-powered, make sure the battery is fully charged.
    • It takes about 6 hours to fully charge the battery from 0-100%.
    • If the battery is charging, the charging indicator light will be solid red.
    • If the battery is fully charged, the charging indicator light will be solid blue.
    • If the battery is not charging, refer to My Wyze Battery Video Doorbell won't charge.
    • Note: The battery level must be above 20% to initiate a firmware update. If the battery level is too low, there will be a pop-up stating to charge the doorbell.
  3. Ensure Wyze Battery Video Doorbell has good signal strength.
    1. You can check this in the Wyze app by going to the doorbell’s settings > Device Info > Signal Strength.
    2. If it has 2 bars or less, try moving the doorbell closer to the router.
  4. Force-close the app and wait 30 minutes before checking whether the update was successful.
  5. If there is a microSD card inserted into the doorbell, remove it and attempt the firmware update again.
  6. Move the doorbell and device with the Wyze app closer to the router during the update, if possible.
  7. Reboot the Wi-Fi router and then attempt the update again.
  8. Restart the doorbell.
    1. Navigate to the doorbell’s settings > Restart Device > Restart.
  9. Factory reset Wyze Battery Video Doorbell.
    1. Use the included Doorbell Detaching Pin to remove the doorbell from the back panel, if the doorbell is mounted.
    2. Remove any microSD card that is inserted into the doorbell. The next step will reset your device.
      • You must remove any inserted microSD card before factory resetting your doorbell.
    3. Single-press the SETUP button on the back of the doorbell.
    4. Pressing the SETUP button will fully reset the doorbell. "Ready to connect" will sound.
    5. Set up the camera like new by following along in the app. Related article: Wyze Battery Video Doorbell Setup Guide.
