Wyze Bulb Cam Connectivity Troubleshooting

Problem

Your Wyze Bulb Cam is showing as offline in the Wyze app, loads slowly, or disconnects frequently.

Troubleshooting

  1. Confirm that the Wyze app is up to date.
    1. In your Wyze app, navigate to the Account tab > tap About.
    2. Your current app version will be listed beneath the Wyze logo.
    3. Compare your app version to the latest app version listed on our Release Notes & Firmware page.
    4. If you find that your Wyze app is out of date, head over to your mobile device’s app store and update the Wyze app.
  2. If possible, check that Wyze Bulb Cam’s firmware is up to date.
    1. You can check this by going to the Account tab > Firmware Update.
    2. If there is an update available for the camera, please move forward with updating it.
    3. If possible, adjust the camera's position so that the lens or back of the camera is not pointing toward the router.
  3. Confirm whether the status light is on.
    1. If not, check out the troubleshooting steps in My Wyze Bulb Cam won’t turn on.
  4. Verify that Location Permissions are enabled for the Wyze app in the phone/tablet settings.
    1. Make sure that it is set to Always or While Using the App.
    2. For iOS users, make sure that Precise Location is turned on.
  5. Confirm that the camera is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and that the network is functioning normally.
  6. Ensure the camera is securely inserted into the socket.
  7. Verify that the fixture the camera is installed in is physically powered on.
  8. Check if the camera is in a socket with a dimmer switch.
    • If it is in a socket with a dimmer switch, move the camera to a different socket, as dimmer switches are not recommended.
    • If it is in a dimmer switch and cannot be moved to a different socket, ensure that the dimmer switch is turned up to its highest setting.
  9. Ensure that Wyze Bulb Cam has a good signal strength.
    1. You can check this in the Wyze app by going to the camera’s settings > Device Info > Signal Strength.
    2. If it has less than 2 bars, try moving the router and camera closer together.
  10. Try moving the camera to a different socket, closer to the router.
  11. Reboot the router.
  12. Power cycle Wyze Bulb Cam.
    1. Manually turn off the socket via the light switch for 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
  13. Factory reset Wyze Bulb Cam.
    1. Remove any microSD card inserted into the camera.
    2. With the camera powered on, press and hold the setup button on the bottom of the camera for 10 seconds until the status light on the front of the camera turns solid red.
    3. Once the status light starts flashing red, set up Wyze Bulb Cam like new.
